“Made to Stick”

Hi! Here is the link to my Context Book Report. I read “Made to Stick” by Chip Heath and Dan Heath. I put it on a separate page. I actually referenced it today when giving a talk on how to write a talk. It was something I have given in the past, to some of the same people, but they did seem to be nodding in agreement when given the suggestions I had pulled from the book regarding getting to the core of the message and illustrating it with stories that get to the heart of the matter. This assignment is already paying off!

  1. You were right “Made to Stick” and “Contagious” have very similar messages. They both talk about Emotions and Stories and how they stick with you when sharing and receiving information. I may get this book to listen to on my next long road trip. Nice “book report” 🙂

  2. I love how you color-coded your report! And how great that you got to apply your knowledge from the report already!

    1. @jlynnfred – Thanks 🙂 I wasn’t sure if the colors would be too overwhelming but I wanted a way to separate the different “stories” so I went with a “green means go” moving toward “red means stop” concept to identify the things that worked moving toward the ones that didn’t stick.

  3. Hi @lisasemenza – thank you so much for sharing such interested detailed stories of applying the principles of the “stickiness” concept. I loved your story of adults being most interested in ice-cream cones over writing book reviews and children/adolescents being most interested in simple, clear messaging. I think with the adults and ice-cream cones it is the “unexpected” factor that really makes it stick, what a funny story!

Thanks for sharing this book, you wrote such an excellent overview, but I might need to read it now as I really like the ideas. Thanks!
